How to Talk to your CEO about Social and Digital Marketing

Register Now

Social Media and Digital Marketing are now considered traditional marketing, yet many CEO’s and senior management teams are still balking at implementing marketing campaigns through these channels. Instead, institutions are posting pictures of their oldest customer with their birthday cupcake or reminding everyone the bank will be closed on President’s Day. All positive posts, but social channels can do so much more for your institution.

Unfortunately, financial institutions, especially smaller ones, still lag significantly behind the larger competitors with developing, implementing and achieving goals related to social media. This is particularly evident in an ABA study that showed just how much financial institutions are lagging in leveraging social media.

“There’s clearly work to be done. Only a minority of respondents strongly agreed with the following statements that characterize a robust social media strategy:
• We have developed a clear statement of the goals we want to accomplish through social media. (17%)
• We have implemented a plan for what time of day we post on social media. (18%)
• We have implemented a plan for how frequently we post. (33%)
• The social media channels we use align with the target audience we are trying to reach. (23%)”
“State of Social Media in Banking”, (c) 2017, American Banking Association, p13
https://www.aba.com/Products/Endorsed/Documents/ABASocialMedia_Report.pdf

Attendees to this social media event will leave with a better understanding of questions and statements such as:

  • Why can’t I see our posts on Facebook? -this is a SMH question, but I know CEO’s ask so we’ll give an answer
  • With the new Facebook algorithm no one is going to see what we do anyway.
  • How do we avoid compliance issues?
  • Our customers don’t want to engage on social, we don’t even have many Facebook followers
  • Our current messaging platform works just fine — yet they can’t define fine and say they want more customers, so it must not be working so fine

Over the course of an hour, attendees to this timely banking webinar will get answers for the statements and questions your CEO puts forth as the barrier to your institution joining the 21st century and prepare yourself.

This will be fun and helpful and you’ll walk away with verbiage to help you have a conversation with your C-suite about social media interaction.

Marketing 2: Rebrand or Die? Consequences of Brand

Register Now

Who wants to do business with a stodgy, old fashioned brand? We all like new, fresh and more importantly these days – clear messages and easy to understand product sets. With the average cost of acquiring a new customer over $200.00, you want to keep the ones you have and add more. Hard to do in an industry where attrition rates are up to 25% for first year bank customers. Oh, and those pesky millennials aren’t known for brand loyalty either.

A well-defined brand with a clear message can go a long way towards growth and retention as well as increasing wallet share.

CEO’s at many financial institutions are aware that their brand is a muddled mess of messages. Yet many times CEO’s say “I just need to convince the board to spend the money. Do you have any statistics on ROI or improved earnings from renewing a brand?”

In this marketing webinar, learn the ins and outs of what a rebrand entails, it is more than a new logo, new website and signage, and learn if a rebrand is what your institution might need to reenergize and remain relevant in the future.

Additionally, learn statistical information that can support your team’s efforts as you present the idea of a rebrand to the board.

Marketing 1: Marketing Strategy – It’s Not an Ad for Free Checking

Register Now

Too often financial institutions have an idea that marketing is a CD ad or a promotion for a checking account. The days of “think of us when,” as in when I need a car loan, or when I need a mortgage are dead. These days, people should be “thinking of you because,” because they read an article you posted or spoke at an event which positions your institution as a resource or an expert. Developing a strategy for your institution that supports your goals is critical to achieving a higher level of performance and maintaining relevancy in today’s constant barrage of marketing messages assailing your customers and target customers.

In this webinar, spend an hour understanding how to do a brand audit and develop a marketing strategy for your institution. Learn how to evaluate your marketing budget for effectiveness. Your brand is the personality of your institution what do you believe and more importantly, what do your customers believe about your institution. From understanding the internal and external perception of your institution, you can craft a plan that supports the growth you desire for your institution.

Social Media is not the same curiosity or luxury in financial services that it may have been five years ago and must be viewed today as a critical dual-edged sword. On the other hand, the regulatory requirements and risk exposure makes Social Media a costly communication channel that must be managed carefully at all times.

This very important Social Media training from Lisa Beck, President of Cypress Resources, gives bank and credit union professionals what they need to know to ensure their institution has a solid Social Media foundation to confront and win in this space for 2018 and beyond.

  • 1:00 – 2:00 pm CT
  • 12:00 – 1:00 pm MT

Most business bankers and branch managers understand that the days of coffee, lunch, golf, repeat are dying.  In the highly commoditized financial industry, it is important to differentiate your institution and yourself but how do you do it?

The utilization of social media can have a strong impact in positioning you and your institution as an expert, a resource, to support an individual or a company with their finances.  In fact, The Financial Brand states that content marketing generates three times as many leads as traditional marketing. And that, 70% of people would rather learn about a company from an article over an advertisement.

But, who has time to generate content?  What if you could learn a system that would help you target prospective clients, engage with content that is already being generated on social media platforms and have conversations with your community online?

In this webinar, we will spend an hour walking through a system that will help you engage in conversation with your community online.  This system isn’t stalking because no one likes a stalker.  It is a method of providing value that engages your target customer and demonstrates your expertise resulting in a connection and a relationship.

Leveraging social media to make connections and grow your institution.
